MSNBC.COM-- Israel, Egypt, India, Russia, Denmark, China, Thailand, Tunisia, Peru, Finland, Romania, Chile, South Korea, Luxembourg, Slovenia and Greece are among the countries sending planes full of supplies to help in the Katrina rescue/recovery/rebuilding efforts. Kind of a cool story to read.

Last I heard, we were still refusing aid from Venezuela and Cuba, solely because of politics. England's government (there were an estimated 400 British citizens who went missing in New Orleans at the time of the hurricane) wasn't given permission to send an envoy until last week, and I wasn't aware we had idealogical problems with England. The article you cited didn't mention how many of those nations were turned away during the initial days (and weeks) of the tragedy.
When the tsunami hit last year on the other side of the world, maybe politics and beurocracy got in the way of all the nations who rendered aid and comfort... but I don't remember reading anything about it.
That's incredible, especially in the case of Venezuela. But equally damning considering Cuba.
I hate our stubborness. Sometimes it's just plain astonsishingly mind-numbing.
We really need a third party in this country. The intelligent party.
The word I have to type to prove I'm a human and make this reply is "fupenugk" Seems like a curse word. That James... what a fu-peh-nug-ik.
