Test - Jott.com

This is a test of jott.com, I am supposed to be able to call in and speak and it records it and turns it into text, will see how well it works.

Well, a few lame things. One, it puts in my full name. Two, it puts the entire message as both the subject and the message. The third thing, I can't really fault it, it advertises itself. Fourth, semi-interestingly, allows you to click on a link and actually hear me in all my digitally recorded and odd-sounding voice.

On the other hand, it's kinda cool how it took my spelling of letters to assume that I meant to clarify the spelling of things.

If you're now looking at the post and wondering what I'm talking about, no, you're not confused, I'm cleaning up the test post.

I guess I should also mention in my very first test is mistook "lame" as "lean" but otherwise was right on the money.

And there's apparently a little speaker icon to the left of the post but it's not showing on my screen for some reason. Maybe server overload.

Some loser flew by and posted an anonymous comment. I rejected it for two reasons... (1) he obviously didn't look at my site, (2) when promoting his own site, he even failed to provide a link to it, making me search for it.

So, Mr. Turner - I am not trying to start a Jott Blog. I've been posting on this blog for years. I was just testing a new tool in my toolbox.

But, I do recommend Jott.com - it's a free service that transcribes what you say into text and then emails it.

And since Blogger accepts posts by email, it's possible to post by dialing in. This is similar to what Audioblogger was doing, except for the whole fact that it transcribes text.

Callwave does something similar. You reprogram your phone so unanswered calls are directed to Callwave instead of your provider's voicemail. Then when you get a call, the calls are transcribed and sent as email or text message. Then you can go to their site to listen to your messages.
