One of the web's originals, the Worldwide Birthday Web was shut down because it was generating too much spam for those who were listed. Well, they're back now. Click here.

The people at NPR are buttheads. The people at KPMG are buttheads. The people at the Runner's World are buttheads. The people at Ticketmaster are buttheads. The people at the Dallas Morning News are buttheads.

Why are they all buttheads? They don't understand how the internet works and are trying to use the law to prevent people from linking to their site or specific pages on their site.

And they are technically dumb. If I don't want people to link to a specific page of any of the websites I'm creating and have them hit the homepage first, it's very simple. Very, very simple.

So, WorldCom is going to sell MCI. And AT&T has spun off AT&T Wireless into its own stock and is splitting off AT&T Cable and then merging it with Comcast to create AT&T Comcast. And Lucent spun off Agere. Apparently companies are begining to realize that smaller and nimbler (with simpler balance sheets) might be a good idea. Ahem, AOL Time Warner.

Buh bye, Pamela Anderson or Pamela Lee or whatever the heck your name is these days.

Question... Isn't "Happy Hour" usually used to describe low-priced alcohol? Apparently now it also means Family Friendly programming on ABC. Is that the best description?

This just in... know what your company is doing. You'd think it would be common sense for a CEO of a company to know how his company was doing. But, we've seen all too frequently that they can get off by simply saying "I wasn't aware of that." Proposed new rules would make it a crime to utter those words. Well, actually, to not be aware... if you're running the thing and you're profiting you had better well know what's going on because you could be held liable. Only then will we start to see people investing again and stop buying up all the dang houses.

How can China consider itself a world-class country when it controls all the news organizations and still can't get it right? An article from The Onion ended up in the Bejing Evening News with just a little bit of re-editing.

While at The Onion, I found this scary story about how everyone is being issued life jackets.

Apparently Adelphia was keeping two sets of books. This astounds me. It seems more like the things that mafia movies and Enron stories are made of.

Oops... apparently about a week ago, a Seattle Mariner fan's ashes were dropped on Safeco Field. KIRO news, in an attempt to find out whose
ashes they were, made my friend call the relatives people who had recently died and were known to be Mariner's fans. I guess people are kind of upset.
