McBummer
Drat. Forgot that I need to fast for 12 hours for the last part of my physical, a blood draw. I was thinking that I would go by Starbucks for a 3M and then McDonalds for a McGriddle when I was done. (Part of my new diet, of course.) And so here I am snacking on Ritz crackers because I left them down here next to the exercise bike last night. Had turned TV on but not tuned to anything. It was on Comedy Central and sure enough, before long, the comic starts talking about how great the McGriddle is and how lame they are for not serving it after 10:30 am. He didn't even really have a joke, except to complain that it's apparently called McGriddles even though you don't go in and ask for a Big Macs or a Filet O' Fishes.) So, guess I'll have to settle for just Starbucks tomorrow.

Unrelated Things
Some interesting things I've learned or heard today...
(1) Because of donations, we are able to employ people who work to acquire grants and gifts-in-kind. That in turn allows us to provide $1.50 in aid for every $1 donated to our NP by private individuals. How cool is that?
(2) When your Toshiba laptop needs repairs, you can take it to any UPS store. Because they're the official shipper for Toshiba, right? Wrong. Because UPS is the official REPAIRER for Toshiba laptops.
(3) UPS was apparently founded in Seattle.
(4) Some restaurants now, when you call to make a reservation, you're talking to someone in India. Now I knew that some drive-up order speakers at McDonalds are actually connected to a call-center in North Carolina, but that's amazing that even restaurants can outsource their reservation systems.
(5) The exchange between two DJs that I heard when I turned on my car radio this morning.
#1 "...Oregon."
#2 "Oregon? You mean Oregon State."
#3 "Yeah, whatever, that place where you can't pump your own gas. And everyone smokes pot."

Another nail in Blockbuster's coffin...
Whenever we watch Comedy Central, we see ads for those self-standing machines that you walk up to and rent DVD's from. My wife wondered aloud "Would people actually use those things?"
Apparently McDonalds thinks so, it's planning to put them in 13,000 locations over the next few years.
